Mural in Soweto

The famous South African city of Soweto sprawls out behind the power towers. The colorful tower on the right is South Africa’s largest mural painting.

Art & Culture

South Africa is home to some of the most beautiful and most ancient art in the world. You will find everything here: European art from the 17th, 18th and 19th century, traditional African displays of mud cloth, baskets and wood carvings, contemporary pieces created in political and social expression from the 1960s to the 1990s, photography and ancient rock art are just a few examples. South Africa’s art is a direct reflection of its history and diverse cultures as well as a tribute to it. Witness this diversity as you walk through Soweto, steeped in apartheid history, visit cultural villages and browse the markets.

Wildlife Safari

Your South African journey continues with a wildlife safari through the Sabi Sand and Londolozi Private Game Reserves. These reserves are is well known for their sightings of the Big Five - lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo, and elephant. At Londolozi leopards find the visiting humans as interesting as we find them and will allow vehicles to get quite close to them.
